After almost two years of working from home and enduring travel restrictions, a lot of people are definitely looking forward to their next vacation. Americans travel to various places but Canada remains one of the top travel destinations. This comes as no surprise – there’s simply so many things to see and do here including enjoying the great outdoors, amazing wildlife, see the Northern lights in the Yukon, camping in national parks, and so much more.

1. Jasper National Park
There are 37 national parks in Canada, and the biggest one in the Canadian Rockies is the Jasper National Park. You can do whitewater rafting or hiking through Maligne Canyon. You can also take a wildlife tour or enjoy a boat ride to the gorgeous Spirit Island. You’ll never run out of things to do in Jasper and staying a few days might not even be enough.
2. Banff
In the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the province of Alberta is a small resort town called Banff. Adventure seekers and those who want to enjoy a luxurious holiday flock to this beautiful town and spend a few days skiing, hiking or getting the best spa treatments. Spot some wildlife at Banff National Park or check out the historic sites and museums. You can hike or bike through several park trails as well.
3. Vancouver
Vancouverites spend their days strolling through sprawling Stanley Park, skiing on Grouse Mountain, or sunbathing at Kitsilano Beach. If you prefer exploring museums, art, and cultural attractions, this city has plenty to offer as well. Be sure to take a day trip to Granville Island which has a huge outdoor market, galleries and studios.
4. Montreal
In Montreal you’ll see a mix of the old and new – skyscrapers and 17th-century architecture dot the city. A visit to Old Montreal will give you a glimpse of old Europe with cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture. If you’re visiting during spring or summer, be sure to check out the Montreal Botanical Garden as well as the Mount Royal Park.
5. Niagara Falls
If you’re going to Ontario be sure to spend a day or two at Niagara Falls. You can try the helicopter tour to see the majestic falls from above or you can also walk below or behind the falls. Around Niagara Falls there are other things to see and explore such as wineries, casinos and the Niagara Glen Nature Centre.
6. Quebec City
If you want to get a feel of Europe but you’re short on budget, then a visit to Quebec City is a must. You’ll see charming centuries old architecture and structures here. In fact, Old Quebec is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking the cobblestone streets is like being in Paris, with the aroma of brewing espresso and freshly baked breads everywhere.
7. Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island is an idyllic and serene place that’s perfect for some rest and relaxation. You can play golf, enjoy the beach, take a stroll around the island or check out the lighthouses. At the end of the day, you can treat yourself to an array of seafoods including PEI mussels.
8. Whitehorse
Whitehorse which is part of the Yukon territory offers lots of outdoor activities. Here you’ll find the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, the Miles Canyon, and if you’re visiting during the winter, you’ll get a chance to witness the beautiful northern lights.
9. Whistler
Whistler in British Columbia is a gorgeous resort town that offers snowboarding and skiing, along with bungee jumping and bobsled rides. The Whistler Village features an après-ski scene, which is really worth experiencing for yourself. You can also explore the Brandywine Falls Provincial Park if the weather is good.
